Training on “Presentation of gender-sensitive approaches in agricultural professions”

On August 14, “Strategic Development Agency” NGO organized a training on “Presentation of gender-sensitive approaches in agricultural professions” for teachers of the partner colleges of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project.
The aim of the training was to discuss with teachers the involvement of women in agricultural professions, the problems related to the women’s motivation increase to get the agricultural professions and the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in the teaching process of agricultural professions.

Teachers from VET institutions of Lori, Syunik, Tavush and Armavir marzes of RA and Yerevan participated in the training. During the training, the participants discovered the new trends in agriculture 4.0, the role of women in the agricultural field and the share of women’s involvement in the labor market.

During the training, the participants were divided into 4 working groups to discuss the necessary steps for the involvement of women in agricultural professions and the changes to be made by VET institutions. The training was held in an atmosphere of active discussion.

The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.

The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).
