A meeting within the “VET Development in Syunik Marz” project

On September 30, 2021, the regular meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was organized within the framework of “VET Development in Syunik Marz” project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL) and with the support of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER).

The Conference was attended by the representatives of RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS), National Center for VET Development (NCVETD), GIZ Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society, United Nations Development (UNDP) Program in Armenia and other organizations.

Mrs. Armenuhi Poghosyan, Acting Head of Preliminary and VET Department of RA MoESCS, and Mr. Mkrtich Ayvazyan, Chairman of Strategic Development Agency NGO, delivered their welcome speeches at the event. In their speech, they highlighted the importance of ensuring the experience exchange and interconnectedness not only of the projects with some experience but also of the new ones.

In the first part of the meeting, Presentation on Preliminary and VET activities and main strategic directions of the RA Government Project was introduced by the RA MoESCS. Within the second half of the event, the organizations which launched new projects in the VET system presented their project goals, objectives and expected results.

The whole meeting was full of active discussions, questions and answers, indications about the shortcomings of the existing system, gaps and suggestions for their solutions. This time also, the meeting served as a platform for the exchange of information and experience in the field of VET which also provided an opportunity for the participating organizations to learn about key intervention directions of other projects and to find new ways to collaborate with each other.

A training on “How to keep the sustainability of an Educational Institution to procure resources and provide paid services”.

On September 22-28, 2021, Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO, with the support of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation-cooperating partner to Sida, conducted the training on “How to keep the sustainability of an Educational Institution to procure resources and provide paid services”.

 

The aim of the training course was to provide participants with the essential skills on how to obtain additional funds, to master modern fundraising tools and mechanism, to expand the scope of partners for promoting paid services of the Institution.

 

Within the framework of the above mentioned project SDA partners with the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) and the course was conducted for the staff of the University (administrative staff, lecturers, representatives of scientific centers).

 

At the end of the training course, the participants expressed their satisfaction to their trainer as well as organizers, and the obtained skills were evaluated as very useful, effective and applicable in their daily work.

“Career Orientation and Professional Development” workshop was held in Chambarak

Within the framework of “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project implemented by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the support of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation -cooperating partner to Sida “Career Orientation and Professional Development” workshop was held in Chambarak on September 23-24 jointly with the Cheese Makers’ Union of Armenia.

The training aims to equip the participants with skills of self-presentation and orientation in the labor market. It also represents job opportunities and employers demand on skills and competencies for specialists in cheese making sphere.

Within the two-day training, the participants pinpointed their strengths and achievements through various analytical mechanisms, using them as bases for self-presentation. The modern requirements for CV and cover letter were presented, in line with an individual design / improvement of the participant’s job application documents, as well as successful job interview techniques. Thanks to active discussions and group work, the participants highlighted the perspective and challenges of cheese production development in Chambarak, elaborating creative solutions to overcome them.

The workshop will be regularly held in other regions of Armenia, dynamically custom-made to the local capacity needs.

Harvest Festival: Rural Life and Traditions 2021

With the support of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” project implemented by Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO and financed by the Austrian Development Agency, the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) and funded by the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC), on September 18, 7 female beneficiaries from projects’ target communities participated in the Harvest Festival: Rural Life and Traditions.

They have often actively participated in training courses and festivals to improve farming skills within the projects implemented by SDA NGO, moreover, this is not the first time they participate in the Harvest Festival.

Honey, jams, mountain herbs, eggs, dairy products, beans, rosehips, cheese and pickle assortments, sour lavash, gata, wine, vodka, etc. Here is the list of homemade and ecologically clean products that women brought to participate in this year’s festival.

In addition to the revenue generated from the sale, the participants had a busy day full of networking by introducing their homelands and making their products more recognizable and accessible to consumers.

Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia: Meetings with community members in Lori and Tavush

From September 13-17, 2021, meeting-discussions were organized in target marzes of Lori, and Tavush within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, implemented by the WWF Caucasus in Armenia (WWF-Armenia) in partnership with Strategic Development Agency NGO and financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The meetings were attended by representatives of WWF-Armenia և SDA NGO, administrative heads of selected settlements, community leaders, as well as community residents.

The purpose of the meetings was to define the current problems and possible solutions in the fields of livestock, tourism, wild collection and other areas through discussions with the community members, and to use the collected information for the project design and implementation stages.

The purpose of the meetings was to introduce and through discussions to confirm the relevance and efficiency of the selected value chains (livestock / fodder, tourism / hospitality and wild collection).  The obstacles of the development of the outlined value chains as well as the proposed projects and mechanisms for their solutions were discussed. The collected information will serve as a basis for the program design.

During the meetings, the representatives of WWF-Armenia and SDA NGO introduced to participants the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, its goals, and possible directions. During the meetings, the mechanisms of sustainable and effective usage and management of natural resources in the communities were discussed. As well as the correlation of natural resources and biodiversity with economic growth, the possible directions of community development were discussed – the incomes of farmers and rural businesses, the opportunities and potential to improve  livelihoods of the rural population.

The “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project implemented by the WWF Caucasus in Armenia (WWF-Armenia) in partnership with Strategic Development Agency NGO is a part of a larger regional program Eco-Corridor Fund for the Caucasus (ECF), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the KfW Development Bank.
