Partnership building in the framework of “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project

On 7-8 September 2023, the team of “Strategic Development Agency” NGO visited Tbilisi, Georgia in the framework of the “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project of RECONOMY. The project focuses on enhancing the digital transformation of the Tourism, Agriculture, and Manufacturing sectors in the Eastern Partnership countries.

The visit was aimed at meeting potential partners of the project in Georgia, discussing their possible involvement in the project interventions and giving the start to drafting a framework of future collaboration, identification of partners’ roles during the project implementation. The meetings were held with the associations specialized in agriculture and tourism sectors, as well as with other relevant stakeholders.

RECONOMY is a regional inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation in partnership with “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and others in the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkan regions.

Workshop on “Activity- and practice-oriented teaching and learning”

Within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project from August 21 to 24, the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO organized a workshop entitled “Activity- and practice-oriented teaching and learning”.

Teachers from the ANAU Agricultural College аfter A. Kochinyan and Ejmiatsin State Vocational School participated in the workshop. The workshop was conducted by the partner of the project, Swiss experienced education expert Mr. Robert Lehmann.

During the workshop, the participants were introduced to the approach of dual education and implementation methods used in Switzerland, the challenges faced and ways how to overcome them.

During the workshop, the student-centered teaching methodology was discussed, after which the teachers had the opportunity to present the application of this teaching method in practice through group work.

The workshop on “Piloting Dual Education in the VET colleges” was organized

On August 21-22, the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO together with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) organized a workshop on “Piloting Dual Education in VET colleges” in the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project.

Directors of 6 vocational colleges involved in the MAVETA project and relevant specialists and representatives of Private Sector partner organizations participated in the workshop.

The aim of the workshop was to introduce the informational, methodological and logistical bases necessary for the organization of dual education, legislative changes and legal documents developed within the framework of the above-mentioned project.

During the workshop, the experts of the “The Private Sector Development and Technical Vocational Education and Training in South Caucasus” (PSD TVET) Programme of GIZ presented the templet of Dual Training Diaries necessary for conducting the student’s practical trainings, as well as the standard forms of the different contracts necessary for employer-educational institution-student cooperation.

The job fair was organized in the city of Goris, Syunik Region

On August 18, the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, in cooperation with the Goris Municipality of Syunik region and the Goris territorial center of the unified social service, organized a “Job Fair” in the Goris city of Syunik region.

The “Job Fair” was organized within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project with the aim to bring the agricultural field employers and job seekers to a single platform.

More than 15 private companies participating in the fair exhibited their products and presented to job seekers the available vacancies, the development perspective of their companies and the skills required by them. The job seekers filled out resume forms for further cooperation.

During the “Job Fair”, a training on “Career Planning and Development of Necessary Skills” and a demonstration of practical activities typical to agricultural professions were also organized. The aim of the training was to introduce the participants to the current challenges people faced while applying for a job. They received information how to be competitive in the labor market and plan the path to their career.

Training on “Fundraising: how to develop competitive project proposals and to attract financial resources”

On August 16–17, the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO organized a training on “Fundraising: how to develop competitive project proposals and to attract financial resources” for teachers of the partner colleges of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) Project.

The purpose of the training was to build the capacity of the VET institutions’ representatives on fundraising and the attraction of financial resources.

Representatives of VET institutions from Yerevan and the regions of Lori, Syunik, Tavush, and Armavir participated in the training.

During the training, the participants got acquainted with grant funding and development project opportunities, and through theoretical discussions and practical exercises, they improved their skills to apply for various funds in the future.
