Experience exchange visit of teachers and students of MAVETA project’s partner colleges to ANAU Sisian branch and Sis-Alp company

On November 29-30, within the framework of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, an experience exchange visit for teachers and students of MAVETA partner colleges from Stepanavan, Goris and Yerevan took place to the Sisian branch of ANAU and the SIS-Alp dairy company.

The first part of the visit consisted of theoretical and practical introduction, where participants interactively got acquainted with the process of obtaining the high-quality milk and the technology of making Suluguni cheese. Then the cheese making and a tasting of the prepared cheese was organized in ANAU Sisian branch college laboratory. The college teachers presented also the successful experience and cases of their practical training’s organization.

During the visit to the Sis-Alp dairy factory, the participants were presented with the technological processes from milk collection to the final production process, as well as the specifics of cheese and other types of dairy production.

In the Center of Smart Agriculture in ANAU Sisian Branch the participants got acquainted with the infrastructures of greenhouse farming, horticulture, animal husbandry, fodder production, where the intensive, modern and innovative approaches and technologies are being practiced.

Participants values the importance of such experience exchange visits in terms of their knowledge improvement.

The second meeting of the National Consultative Group for Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) was held

The second meeting of the National Consultative Group for Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) was held on November 27, 2023.

The aim of the event was to present the project achievements for the reporting period and the upcoming activities.

The representatives of donor and partner organizations, international agencies, non-governmental organizations, local self-governing bodies and public authorities were present.

The meeting was opened with an opening remark from the Director of WWF-Armenia Dr. Karen Manvelyan, followed by welcome speeches from Dr Werner Thut-Shimo, Deputy Head of Mission and Deputy Regional Head of International Cooperation and Mr. Aram Meymaryan, the Deputy Minister of Environment of RA.

Mrs. Alla Ghazaryan from “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO and Mrs. Naire Yeritsyan from WWF-Armenia reported the progress made and future plans within the two components of LILA project.

Online meeting-discussion to introduce “Agronnect” digital platform to potentially interested partners in the EaP countries

On November 28, 2023, an online meeting-discussion was organized between the Georgian company, “Agronnect”, and the leading agricultural companies and professional associations in Armenia and Moldova as a part of the “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project of the regional RECONOMY program. The project is implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO.

The objective of the meeting was to introduce “Agronnect” digital platform agricultural consultancy to potentially interested partners in the EaP countries and to identify interests and further steps for future collaboration.

“Agronnect” is an innovative agricultural expert marketplace, where farmers get consulted by top agronomists worldwide. On the one hand, the platform helps farmers have access to high professionals, and on another, it allows experts to monetize their knowledge and earn additional income. Since its launch, “Agronnect” has already involved farmers and agronomist consultants from 10 different countries and is planning to further expand.

RECONOMY is an inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation in partnership with Strategic Development Agency NGO and others in the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkan regions.

A tutorial on how to design and serve cheese boards

On November 23, within the framework of “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, a training and a visit for an exchange of experiences was organized for the staff of the newly opened “ArtCheese” cheese tasting room.

The exchange of experience was conducted by Sergey Sargsyan, the founder of “Say Cheese”, the first specialized shop of rich variety of cheeses in Armenia.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the types of high-value cheeses, the technical knowledge of designing and serving cheese boards, as well as the culture of pairing cheeses with other food.

 “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project is implemented by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Caucasus and Armenian offices in collaboration with Strategic Development Agency (SDA), funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Training for the farmers of Mets Masrik, Kachaghbyur, Aghitu and Noravan settlements of Vardenis enlarged community

On November 21-23, a series of training sessions  for farmers has been organized in the framework of “Resilience and Economic Recovery of Border Communities in Armenia” Project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO.

The training was focused on the topics such as: role of women in the development of agriculture, animal care, artificial insemination, high-value fodder crops and seed production. The aim of the training was to introduce the farmers to the specifics of animal care from newborn calves to cow, the actions necessary for productivity increase and the advantages of artificial insemination.

193 farmers participated in the trainings.
