LILA project beneficiaries participated in the “Navasard” festival

“ArtCheese” Cheese Tasting Room,  “Poonj” Canned Foods Tasting Room, and the “Shaghat” Agricultural Cooperative, beneficiaries of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project,  participated in the Armenian-Iranian “Navasard” festival in Sisian on August 10.

This culinary and cultural festival, now in its third year, showcased traditional dishes from Armenian and Iranian cuisine, along with their historical significance. The event featured vibrant musical and dance performances that celebrated the rich cultures of both nations.

Provision of consulting service to MAVETA project partners

Within the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, carried out by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, consulting services were offered to representatives from the private sector and partner colleges involved in the project.
During these consultations, MAVETA project partners learned about the state support programs implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the process for applying for these programs when hiring vulnerable groups.

Practical training for veterinarians and artificial insemination technicians of cattle

On July 8-19, within the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North – 2” project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, Jan Musken, a PUM expert was invited from the Netherlands to Armenia for developing the capacities of the beneficiary farmers, veterinarians and artificial insemination (AI) technicians of cattle.

The expert visited the leading beneficiary farms of the project and provided on-site advice to the farmers on effective reproduction management, feeding and breeding of cattle. Jan Muskens discussed issues related to the strategic planning with representatives of the Gyumri selection station and presented expert opinion and recommendations for further activities.

On July 17-19, a training on the “Cattle reproduction management for the sustainable farming production” was held in the Ranch, Syunik province for 35 veterinarians and AI technicians of cattle of the target regions of the project.

The participants of the course gained practical and theoretical knowledge and skills on fertility, cattle reproduction management and other important components of the artificial insemination of cows.

Joint workshop on the implementation of the “Cattle Yield Increase Program”

On July 16, within the framework of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North-2” project, Mkrtich Ayvazyan, the president of the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, and the program team participated in the workshop on the implementation of the “Cattle Yield Increase Program” at the “Gyumri Selection Station” CJSC. Tatevik Sargsyan, Deputy Minister of Economy,  Mushegh Muradyan,  Governor of Shirak Marz and other officials were present.

Mkrtich Ayvazyan, the head of the organization, highly appreciated the cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and expressed hope that it will be continuous.

Vahe Hovhannisyan, project manager and Michael Haykuni, animal health and breeding specialist presented the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO’s ongoing and carried out projects in the livestock sector, aiming to increase the meat and milk yield of cattle, ensuring the availability of artificial insemination services of cows, developing the capabilities of veterinarians, as well as providing technical support in more than 200 settlements in Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik marzes.

During the workshop, the current results of the state-supported programs implemented in the field of livestock breeding were also discussed, and the need for the establishment of a breeding station on the basis of “Gyumri Selection Station” CJSC was emphasized that will contribute to the increase of breed features and yield of cattle in Armenia.

Tatevik Sargsyan, Deputy Minister of Economy highlighted the support of the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO in the implementation of the Government’s initiatives and expressed hope that this cooperation will be multifaceted and effective also in the future.

The joint project design work will continue with the involvement of interested parties.

“FabLab Armenia: Advancing Light Industry through Digital Manufacturing” project was launched

Within “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” RECONOMY project for Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries a Partnership Agreement was signed between the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, the Gyumri Branch of “State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia” Foundation, and the “Fab Lab Armenia” Education Foundation” on July 15, 2024.

The “FabLab Armenia: Advancing Light Industry through Digital Manufacturing” project aims to support educational institutions and market actors in their endeavor to establish a digital laboratory that provides cutting-edge training, research, and intermediary services for students, employees and employers in the light industry sector. This will facilitate the adoption of digital green technologies, contributing to a skilled labor market and decent employment opportunities for women, youth, and disadvantaged and excluded groups.

In particular, this initiative will assist the project partners – the Gyumri Branch of the “State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia” Foundation and the “Fab Lab Armenia” Education Foundation – in establishing facilities and services that ensure target groups have access to modern digital tools, innovative teaching methodologies, and Fab Lab’s global network and learning community.

Additionally, it will allow students, graduates, entrepreneurs and professionals to conduct various research, experiment with new ideas, and, most importantly, realize their creative products from concept to production.

The initiative is made possible by the cooperation of the “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and the KATAPULT Creative Accelerator Program, implemented by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) with the EU funding.
