The meeting of the working group formed for VET promotion

On February 15, “Strategic Development Agency” NGO within the framework of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project hosted the first meeting of the working group formed within the framework of the dialogue platform of donor organizations operating in the field of vocational education and training (VET).

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, Lilit Hovhannisyan, Project Manager of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, highlighted the importance of coordinating actions and sharing information on ongoing programs of relevant organizations for the promotion of VET sector.

Anna Poghosyan, public communication specialist at the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, presented the strategy and action plan implemented by the organization in the VET sector within the framework of the MAVETA project.

The members of the working group got acquainted with the programs aimed at the development of vocational education and training by donor organizations in Armenia and discussed a wide range of issues related to the events, activities, awareness campaigns and their publicization for the further promotion of VET sector.

Training for teachers of MAVETA project partner colleges

On February 7-8, within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO organized two-day training for the teachers of MAVETA project partner- colleges on the topic “Presentation of the gender-sensitive approaches in VET and equal opportunities creation for vulnerable groups”.
Suzanna Petrosyan, an expert on inclusive education, introduced the opportunities for people with disabilities in VET education, adaptations of the educational environment for people with various disabilities, global trends and good experience.

The expert also presented the law on disabilities, as well as the information on the legislative reforms and the details of the personal assistant institute introduction.

Anna Poghosyan, a gender and public relations and communication specialist at Strategic Development Agency NGO, presented the importance of application of gender-sensitive approaches in VET institutions, public perceptions and implications for everyday life, as well as the brought the local and international experience and comparative findings.

The participants of the two-day training strengthened their theoretical knowledge about inclusion through practical exercises and role-play games.

Short-term training of laboratory specialists, working in the dairy production

From January 29 to February 7, within the framework of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO organized a short-term training of laboratory specialists, working in the dairy production for milk and dairy technology teacher of Goris and Stepanavan state agricultural colleges and private sector partners.

The 6-day training with its practical part was conducted by “STANDARD DIALOG” LLC.

The companies’ training center is equipped with laboratories, which are in line with European standards.

The participants of the training course, led by Haykush Batikyan, the head of the training center, gained\knowledge and skills about milk sampling, all the necessary tools and equipment, the milk and dairy testing methods, determination of physicochemical and microbiological indicators, analysis and control of risks in milk-dairy production, insertion of the critical points management system and other professional aspects.

They also had the opportunity to conduct experiments in laboratories. At the end of the course participants passed tests and received certificates.

Training for MAVETA project private sector partners

On February 1-2, within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia (MAVETA) project” (MAVETA) project, “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO conducted a training on applying gender-sensitive approaches and ensuring equal opportunities for vulnerable groups in the labor market for the partners in private sector.

Anna Poghosyan, gender and public communication specialist at the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, presented the local and international experience of eliminating gender-based discrimination in the workplace and applying sensitive approaches, the importance of creating equal opportunities for women and men, and the necessary steps aiming at empowerment of women.

The representatives of the private sector got acquainted with the possibilities of inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labor market, legislation and regulations in Armenia, the experience of reasonable adaptations and global trends, which were presented by Suzanna Petrosyan, an expert in inclusive education.

The participants of the two-day training also had the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge about the abilities and characteristics of vulnerable groups through interactive games and to share their experience and approaches to solving problems in the workplace.

Team building and soft skills training for MAVETA partner: ANAU Sisian Branch College

Emphasizing the need for interpersonal skills development among partners, on January 20-21, “Strategic Development Agency” NGO within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project organized a training on “Team building and time management” for the teachers of ANAU Sisian branch college.

The aim of the training was to contribute to the cohesion of the staff of ANAU Sisian Branch College and to form the environment of trust.

During the training, with the help of theoretical part and games, participants got acquainted with the methods of improving teamwork, communication and cooperation, the principles of time management, methods of defining tasks and priorities.
