Training on “Introduction approaches of a work-based learning model in VET” was organized

On July 1-3 and 8-10, 2020, following all safety rules, training on “Introduction approaches of a work-based learning model in VET” was held in Stepanavan State Agricultural College of Lori marz of the RA and Goris State Agricultural College of Syunik marz of the RA within the framework of the “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project implementing by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the financial support of the European Union.

The training was organized for project partner VET institutionս teachers and host companies’ mentors to present the approaches and principles of the work-based learning model (WBL), as well as the necessary toolkit in order to apply the model in VET system.

The training was aimed at providing the necessary skills and knowledge on education and training system based on the principles of the WBL model with its further introduction at the Stepanavan and Goris State Agricultural Colleges, as well as in the host companies in Lori marz and Syunik marz of the RA.

 

The veterinary point was opened in Vayk city of Vayots Dzor region

On 8th of  July, 2020 with the support of the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the veterinary point was opened in Vayk city of Vayots Dzor region.

The existence of a veterinary point will contribute to the improvement of veterinary ս artificial insemination services and the increase of the quality of those services for the farmers of Vayots Dzor region.There will be a veterinary pharmacy, a small and exotic animal clinic in the area of ​​the veterinary center, due to this complex the farmers will have access to a professional consultancy on animal husbandry. The newly opened veterinary point is equipped with modern medical tools, medicine and will serve more than 14 settlements of Vayots Dzor.

Drawing contest for 7-14 years-old children of Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions of RA entitled “MY PASTURE”

Within the framework of the “Advantages of Sustainable Pasture Management” awareness campaign, the 12 communities of Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions of the Republic of Armenia from 8th of July to 7th of August included are launching a drawing contest entitled “MY PASTURE”. The “Advantages of Sustainable Pasture Management” awareness campaign is supported by “Livestock development in the South of Armenia” project, implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO and funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Children aged 7-14 from Areni, Gladzor, Yeghegis, Vayk, Zaritap, Jermuk communities of Vayots Dzor region and from Gorayk, Sisian, Goris, Tatev, Tegh, Kapan communities of Syunik region can take part in the contest. The requirements of the contest are published on the official websites of the above-mentioned communities and their Facebook pages.

The main goal of the contest is to show the role and the importance of pastures, as well as to reveal the problems existing in this field and the possible ways to solve them through the bright vision and imagination of children.

We hope that with the help of this initiative, children will be able to express their creative thinking on this nowadays problem, gain deeper knowledge about pasture saving and proper use, and perceive pasture as the most important element of the environment.

 

The workshop on “The ways of improving the productivity of educational process” was conducted

On July 6-7, 2020, a workshop on “The ways of improving the productivity of educational process” was conducted by “3R Strategy” business consulting LLC in the framework of “VET development in Syunik marz” project. The project is being implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO in partnership with HAFL (the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.

Due to the pandemic situation, only 6 representatives from Goris State Agricultural College were physically present, and the representatives of ANAU Sisian branch, Yerevan State Agricultural College after A. Kochinyan, Gavar State Agricultural College, Stepanavan State Agricultural College, overall 22 people, connected via Zoom communication tool. All preventive measures were taken into consideration during the workshop.

The main aim of the workshop was to discuss the obstacles and opportunities of improving the quality of vocational education and practice, the means of enhancing the effectiveness of practical lessons and to suggest local solutions for the mentioned problems.

Preserve the pasture, protect the future of our children

On June 12, 2020, 12 enlarged communities of Syunik and Vayots Dzor marzes launched an awareness-raising campaign  under the slogan “Let’s preserve our pasture to protect the future of our children” on the benefits of sustainable pasture management. The awareness-raising campaign is organized in frames of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO (SDA) and funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

This campaign aims to create the culture of environmental protection, reasonable and safe use of natural resources, in particular the pastures among the local population. This, in turn, will contribute to the implementation of sustainable pasture management principles and the efficient organization of pasture use, will reduce the negative impact of hectic livestock farming on pasture ecosystems, and will increase farmers’ income through the improved livestock productivity.

During the campaign, special events are planned for children to increase their interest and level of knowledge about the need to preserve pastures, as well as to promote the sense of responsibility for the environment.
