RECONOMY x LILA Armenian Tour Operators’ Fam Tour to Moldova Concluded Successfully

Within the collaboration between RECONOMY’s “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” and “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) projects, a group of Armenian partner tour operators, from May 12 to 17, participated in a familiarization (fam) tour in Moldova.

During the fam tour, alongside business meetings, the group of Armenian tour operators had the opportunity to explore local tourist attractions and key travel routes.

The guests also visited historical and cultural landmarks in Moldova, took part in the preparation of sarmale—a traditional and well-known dish of Moldovan cuisine—and sampled local food and beverages.

The fam tour concluded with a joint workshop with Moldovan partners, as well as RECONOMY and LILA project partner-tour operators—Nueva Vista, AM Travel, and Luxury Voyage—during which participants discussed prospects for creating and developing joint tourism packages.

RECONOMY is an inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by Helvetas in partnership with the Strategic Development Agency NGO and others in the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan countries.

RECONOMY x LILA Armenian Tour Operators’ Fam Tour to Moldova

Within the framework of the cooperation between RECONOMY’s Digitalizing Sectors for Competitiveness and Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) projects, a group of Armenian tour operators is in Moldova on a familiarization (fam) tour from May 12 to 17.

As part of the fam tour, a meeting was held on May 15 with Moldovan partners, with the participation of tour operators affiliated with RECONOMY and LILA projects – Nueva Vista, AM Travel, and Luxury Voyage.

During the meeting, participants discussed the development of regional tourism and explored the opportunities for creating and developing tour packages between Armenia and Moldova. Special emphasis was placed on the existence of effective cooperation channels, which are being further strengthened through the ongoing familiarization (fam) tour to Moldova.

Afterwards, the Armenian delegation participated as a special guest in the annual conference of the Antrim National Inbound and Outbound Tourism Association in Chisinau. Mekhak Apresyan, RECONOMY project partner and President of the «Armenian Tourism Federation», delivered a speech highlighting the ongoing initiatives and key prerequisites for advancing regional tourism cooperation.

The fam tour will continue across Moldova’s tourist destinations, providing Armenian tour operators with the opportunity to explore the uniques features of  regional tourism offerings.

MAVETA Event on the Integration and Agricultural Engagement of Displaced People

Within the framework of the Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia (MAVETA) project, a discussion titled “Agricultural Engagement as a Path to Sustainable Integration” was held on May 13. The event brought together local farmers and displaced residents from Artsakh at the information center of the private sector partner, the Ranch LLC.

During the event, poultry breeder Narine Petrosyan and farmer Hayk Aslanyan shared their experiences of reintegration into the agricultural sector.

Private sector partner Saribek Hovsepyan highlighted employment opportunities and challenges in the livestock sector of the Syunik region.

Jasmen Arustamyan, Career Officer at the Goris State Agricultural College, introduced the college’s dual education programs and the professional development opportunities available to students.

Later, participants visited the Elola dairy factory and the Goris Veterinary Laboratory, where they gained insights into dairy production processes and the scope of veterinary services in the region.

The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the HEKS/EPER NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.

The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).

MAVETA Career Promotion Day in Goris

With the support of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, the project partner Goris State Agricultural College held a profession promotion event on May 12 at the premises of the project’s other private sector partner, “The Ranch” LLC.

The schoolchildren of the Goris community were welcomed by Lilit Beglaryan, VET consultant of the MAVETA project, and Anna Torozyan, acting director of the Goris State Agricultural College. They presented the advantages of dual education, as well as the demand for professions in the agricultural sector.

The students toured the professions pavilions, learned about the professions taught at the college, and participated in a demonstration of milk laboratory testing, animal temperature measurement, and other veterinary interventions.

LILA Media Tour in the South of Armenia

Within the framework of the ““Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, a three-day media tour was organized on May 5-7 by WWF Caucasus in Armenia (WWF-Armenia) and the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO in Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions.

The outcomes of the project were presented to journalists during the media tour.

Lilya Torosyan, Tourism Officer of the LILA Project, interpreted the project interventions presented by the SDA NGO, including those aimed at promoting the supply chain, developing sustainable and inclusive tourism, improving the living conditions and infrastructure of local businesses, and developing the skills and capabilities of tourism and hospitality sector employees.

The media tour participants visited the beneficiaries of the LILA project in Vayots Dzor region: the “Art Cheese” Cheese Tasting Room, the “Sheram” Local Cuisine, the “Arpa” Environmental Foundation, the “Poonj”, “Krya” and “Old Bridge” wine tasting halls, the “Nor Tours” gastroyard, as well as an agricultural cooperative located in the Shaghat settlement of the Syunik region.

LILA Project Coordinator Naira Yeritsyan presented the project in detail, the work carried out, and the results recorded, including WWF-Armenia’s introduction of pasture management and conservation regulations, the integration of the “landscape-based value chain” concept into conservation agreements signed with state institutions in target settlements, as well as steps taken to develop community skills and capacities for sustainable use of natural resources.

This component included visits to a solar power station installed in the Shaghat settlement of Syunik region, as well as a mobile solar power station and a stock watering point located in the Shatin community of Vayots Dzor.

During the media tour, media representatives, through interviews with project beneficiaries, revealed project interventions in the South of Armenia from an environmental and tourism development perspective.
