MAVETA Career Promotion Day in Stepanavan
Within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, a career promotion event was held on May 6 at the Stepanavan State Agricultural College, a partner of the project.
Pupils from number of schools of Stepanavan were welcomed at the Stepanavan State Agricultural College by Lilit Beglaryan, VET consultant of the MAVETA project, Ara Chobanyan, college director, and other representatives of the event.
Lilit Beglaryan presented the agricultural professions taught at the college through a dual education, as well as the cooperation with the private sector, which guarantees students interested in the field a job while still in the study phase.
Afterwards, the pupils toured the college, learned about student life, the professional education and technical opportunities offered by the college, and had interactive interactions with students and college teachers.
In the second half of the day, the pupils visited the “Viva Kat” dairy company located in the Tashir community. During the tour, the company’s representatives introduced the pupils to the peculiarities of milk and dairy product processing, the technologies used, as well as noted the importance of competent professionals in the field and encouraged them to choose agricultural professions.
The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the (HEKS/EPER NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.
The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).
