Practical course for teachers of Stepanavan College and MAVETA project partnering institutions

On June 26-29, within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, a practical course was held for teachers of Stepanavan College and partner institutions by Hans Knüsel, an expert from Switzerland specialized in dairy production.

The training course included a discussion of the production process of different types of cheese, presentation of features and tasting of hard and semi-hard cheeses. As part of the expert’s visit, a consultation was also provided to the teachers of the Stepanavan College, lecturing milk and dairy technology, which was followed by a tour to the workshop of 4 large dairy producing factories of Tashir region. During the expert’s visit, teachers and representatives of partner institutions had the opportunity to learn the details of different cheese types production process: from lactic acid fermentation and preparation of grain/curd to cheese ripening. The last day of the visit was dedicated to the discussion of yogurt production specifics: from the actual production process to packaging and defining the quality standards.
