Within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, a practical training course was held on March 26-27 at the SIS ALP dairy factory, a project partner. The course was conducted by Swiss cheesemaker and consultant Hans Knussel.
The training brought together lecturers from Goris State Agricultural College and the Sisian branch of the Armenian National Agrarian University, as well as representatives of the project’s private dairy sector partners in Syunik.
Hans Knussel introduced participants to the production process of cottage cheese and cream cheeses, focusing on their preparation under Armenian conditions and key quality management measures.
The course concluded with a tasting session, where participants sampled a similar cheese brought from Switzerland.
We would like to thank MAVETA’s private sector partner SIS ALP for providing their production space and organizing a proper reception.
The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.
The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).
