Opening ceremony of the Lead Farm established within the frameworks of “Livestock development in Armenia: South-North 2” project

On October 24, the official opening ceremony of the “Lead Farm” established in the Achanan rural settlement of Kapan enlarged community took place.

The “Lead Farm” was established within the frameworks of the project “Livestock Development in Armenia։ South-North 2”, which is financed by Austrian Development Agency the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation and is implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO.

The “Livestock Development in Armenia-South-North 2″ project aims to contribute to the inclusive and sustainable agricultural growth of livestock-depending rural communities in Armenia through improved productivity and enhanced competitiveness of the private sector in the domestic and export markets.

The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy of RA Ms. Ashkhen Shirvanyan, Deputy Head of the Yerevan Office of the Austrian Development Agency Ms. Nora Alanakyan, representatives of Syunik Regional Administration, Kapan and Sisian enlarged communities and the project’s beneficiary farmers.

The opening ceremony of the “Lead Farm” started with the welcoming speech of Ms. Ashkhen Shirvanyan, who noted that all the initiatives aiming the development of agriculture are very important for the Ministry of Economy of RA. “On behalf of the Ministry, I’d like to express the gratitude to all those organizations that made efforts, supporting the private sector to help them properly present their activities in the field of agriculture. I thank our beneficiaries who realize the challenges in agriculture sector and continue to be engaged, by contributing to the development of this sector. We are sure that in the nearest future we will see the tangible results of the investments”- emphasised Ms Shirvanyan.

Ms. Nora Alanakyan, the Deputy Head of Yerevan Office of the Austrian Development Agency welcomed the guests and thanked all the partners who contributed to the opening of this farm and wished success to Arman Grigoryan, the founder of the Lead Farm.

Karen Balyan, the advisor to the Syunik Marz Governor, noted in his welcoming speech that this is the best example of cooperation between the government, the private sector, and the project supported by international organizations.

Gor Tadevosyan, the Deputy Head of the RA Kapan community, welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of innovative approaches in agriculture and expressed hope that farmers from other communities will also follow this example.

The opening ceremony of the “Lead Farm” was preceded by the visit of RA Deputy Minister of Economy Ms Ashkhen Shirvanyan to the Noravan settlement. During the visit she was introduced to the pasture infrastructure established within the framework of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” project and met with the beneficiary farmers of the project․ The ribbon-cutting ceremony and the tour in the farm were followed by a visit to the veterinary point established in Kapan.
