“Post COVID-19 Business solutions” Training course

On 4-5 May 2021, in frames of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” and “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” Projects implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO, a training course on “Post COVID-19 Business solutions” took place in Jermuk city.

The training was attended by 24 representatives of 16 milk processing partner companies from Vayots Dzor, Syunik, Lori, Tavush, Shirak, and Gegharkunik marzes.

The training aims to present the Post COVID-19 business challenges, the ways to overcome them (7K solutions), the ways to organize sales under the pandemic, the market situation and its changes, and get acquainted with the methods of making online sales.

During the training, the trainer held one-on-one meetings with the participants and provided individual advice to all the processors who faced difficulties related to sales due to the pandemic and suggested possible solutions. By involving participants in various discussions, the problems in the sales chain were identified, and the ways to solve them were considered․

ANAU “Basics of Teaching and Assessment” Training Series Summary

On April 30, the capacity development training course for the staff of the National Agrarian University of Armenia (ANAU) within the framework of the “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project was summed up.

The project is supported by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation – cooperating partner to SIDA, and implemented by the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO

The course, which was delivered in three stages, had been developed and was held by Lilit Zakaryan, Director of the ANAU Quality Assessment and Assurance Center. Representatives of ANAU Gyumri, Sisian, and Vanadzor branches also took part in the training.

As a result of the four-day interactive course, about 70 participants were introduced to the curriculum improvement, teaching, learning, and assessment topics, discussed the specifics of online, offline, and hybrid learning in the fields of formal and non-formal education, as well as developed tools for assessing their work efficiency.At the end of the course, certificates were awarded to all the participants.

The training course “Fundamentals of Teaching-Assessment” marked the launch of the ongoing SDA-ANAU partnership within the framework of the “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project.

Seminars on “Application of GIS in pastures and meadows e-management”

“Application of GIS in pastures and meadows e-management” seminars were held on April 27, 2021, in Amasia community of Shirak province and on April 28 in Gyulagarak community of Lori province, within the framework of “Introducing pasture and grassland maps for sustainable pasture and grasslands management practices in Lori and Shirak marzes of Armenia” project.

The project is financed by the GIZ ECOSERVE Project, with co-financing from the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO with financial support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

Heads of communities, employees of municipalities, and community representatives participated in the seminars. After getting acquainted with the content of the structural features of GIS, the participants of the seminar mentioned the importance of the use of GIS in “Introducing pasture and grassland maps for sustainable pasture and grasslands management practices in Lori and Shirak marzes of Armenia” project. In particular, it was highlighted, that there could be an opportunity to obtain objective information about pastures and meadows and possibilities to reduce community workload through the use of GIS technologies.

International Veterinarian Day was celebrated in Armenia

An event dedicated to the International Veterinarian Day was held on April 23, 2021, at the State Museum of Nature of Armenia by the initiative of the Food Safety Inspection Body of RA with the participation of the Ministry of Economy of RA and with the support of the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO and financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The event was attended by Mr. G. Avetisyan, head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of RA, T.Gabrielyan, deputy minister of Economy of RA, M.Ayvazyan, chairman of Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO, leading specialists of the industry as well as representatives of mass media

At the beginning of the event, the participants were welcomed and congratulated on their professional day by Mr.G. Avetisyan, the Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of RAand T. Gabrielyan, deputy minister of Economy of RA.  The speakers emphasized the importance of of the veterinarians and the role of the professionin agriculture.

During the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded in several categories: “Best Inspector”, “Best Young Veterinarian”, “Best Student Veterinarian”, “Best Female Veterinarian”, “Best Veterinary Scientist”, “Best Community Veterinarian”. A certificate of appreciation was also granted to Strategic Development Agency NGO for significant support to the veterinary and animal husbandry sector in Armenia and as the best partner of the Food Safety Inspection Body of RA.

The closing ceremony of the “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project took place

On April 22, 2021, the Closing Event of the “Promoting Partnerships for Effective Work-Based Learning Opportunities in VET” project implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO with the financial support of the European Union took place in Stepanavan, Lori marz of the RA.

The event was attended by Mr. Artak Aghbalyan, Head of the VET Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the RA, Ms. Arpine Matinyan, Deputy Head of Education, Culture and Sport Department of Lori Regional Administration, and Mr. Mkrtich Ayvazyan, the Chairman of “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, the Leaders of Stepanavan and Tashir communities of Lori marz, the directors, teachers and students of the project partners Stepanavan and Goris State Agricultural Colleges and the directors of the host companies.

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the cooperation between the private sector and vocational educational (VET) institutions through piloting the model of work-based learning in Goris and Stepanavan state agricultural colleges for two agricultural professions “Veterinary” and “Milk and Dairy Technology”.

Within the scope of the event, visits were organized to the host companies of the project partners (“Lorva Kat” LLC, Asatur Harutyunyan S/P) in order to get acquainted with the work-based learning of VET students specializing in the two professions outlined by the program.

The event was continued at Stepanavan State Agricultural College of Lori marz of the RA, where welcoming speeches were delivered by Mr. Artak Aghbalyan, Head of the VET Department of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the RA, Ms. Arpine Matinyan, Deputy Head of Education, Culture and Sport Department of Lori Regional Administration, and Mr. Mkrtich Ayvazyan, Chairman of SDA NGO. The speakers started with expression of their gratitude to the EU Delegation to Armenia for providing the support programs for VET sector development in Armenia, and noted their important part in creating sustainable frameworks for improvement the educational system in the country. During their speeches, it was emphasized the need to ensure equal participation and responsibility of public, educational institution and private sector to implement effectively the approaches of WBL educational model. According to the latter, applying of WBL approaches in the educational sphere of Armenia will allow eliminating the main gaps in the traditional methods and forms of VET teaching, strengthening the practical orientation of the educational process, while maintaining the level of the theoretical component.

During the event, the participants presented the outcomes of the activities carried out within the framework of the project, the lessons learnt and challenges that occurred during the implementation, as well as the relevant proposals for their elimination.
