National Association of Veterinarians NGO՛s members’ meeting-discussion on the current work under COVID-19 conditions

On October 20-21, a two-day meeting-discussion of veterinarians of the National Association of Veterinarians NGO was held in Syunik Animal Market with the co-initiative of SDA NGO and NAV NGO on the implemented,  ongoing, and planned works to carry out under the pandemic conditions. The meeting was attended by veterinarians, members of the Association, as well as the heads of “Veterinary Service Station” SNCOs of the Artsakh Republic, representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Artsakh Republic, Deputy Minister of Economy of RA Tigran Gabrielyan, representatives of the Food Safety Inspection Rody of RA leadership Narek Hayrapetyan, Georgi Avetisyan.

 

On the first day of the meeting, a number of urgent issues of the field were discussed, especially the very important issues related to the qualification of veterinarians and the use of antibiotics, which are also interrelated. During the discussion, it became clear that the solution to the problem of .qualification of veterinarians requires legislative changes, which are currently at the process stage by the relevant departments. Based on the voting the amount and deadlines of membership fees were also unanimously adopted by the NAV NGO’s veterinarian members.

On the second day of the meeting, a video call was held with the management of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), who introduced the NAV NGO’s members who are FVE applicants concurrently, to the staff of the organization, the nature of the work, answered a number of questions, etc. The meeting was carried out by active discussions, followed by some practical presentations to develop specialists’ practical skills.

Adventure Hike in Lori for future guides

On October 9 of 2021, Strategic Development Agency NGO, with the support of Sida’s partner HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation, organized an adventure hike in Lori within the framework of the “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project. The project partner is the well-known “Association of Armenian Mountaineers” NGO.

Prior to the hike, the participants were provided with some information on hiking tourism and were presented the general rules and instructions for participation.

40 adventurous youth and women who want to become guides and run adventure hikes in the future took part in the hiking. During the event the participants hiked (14-15 km) to Surb Nshan Church of the medieval Monastry Horomayr and Kobayravank.

In order the participants have real fun and get the allowable dose of adrenaline, the hike was concluded with an extreme sport – rafting. It was organized for all the participants providing them with the opportunity to enjoy the adventure tourism by rafting on the Debed River for 1.5 hours.

The participants were very pleased; already during the hike some of them were thinking of developing their hiking road maps and conducting hikes in their regions.

A round table discussion on “Cheesemaking Challenges in Armenia and the role of Armenia’s Cheesemakers’ Union”

On October 14, a round table discussion on “Cheesemaking Challenges in Armenia and the role of Armenia’s Cheesemakers’ Union” was organized within the framework of the “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project implemented by the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and financed by HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation-cooperating partner to Sida.

Representatives from 25 milk processing companies from different regions of Armenia, Armenia’s Cheesemakers’ Union, and SDA NGO were amongst the participants.

During the first part of the meeting, the role of the Cheesemakers’ Union and the main directions of activities in the coming years were discussed. As well as the details of the courses offered by the union and other benefits/conditions of joining the union were introduced.

The second part outlined the challenges in the cheese industry and the preconditions to improve export conditions.

The meeting was finalized with the official signing ceremony of the union membership applications.

A meeting within the “VET Development in Syunik Marz” project

On September 30, 2021, the regular meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was organized within the framework of “VET Development in Syunik Marz” project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL) and with the support of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER).

The Conference was attended by the representatives of RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS), National Center for VET Development (NCVETD), GIZ Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society, United Nations Development (UNDP) Program in Armenia and other organizations.

Mrs. Armenuhi Poghosyan, Acting Head of Preliminary and VET Department of RA MoESCS, and Mr. Mkrtich Ayvazyan, Chairman of Strategic Development Agency NGO, delivered their welcome speeches at the event. In their speech, they highlighted the importance of ensuring the experience exchange and interconnectedness not only of the projects with some experience but also of the new ones.

In the first part of the meeting, Presentation on Preliminary and VET activities and main strategic directions of the RA Government Project was introduced by the RA MoESCS. Within the second half of the event, the organizations which launched new projects in the VET system presented their project goals, objectives and expected results.

The whole meeting was full of active discussions, questions and answers, indications about the shortcomings of the existing system, gaps and suggestions for their solutions. This time also, the meeting served as a platform for the exchange of information and experience in the field of VET which also provided an opportunity for the participating organizations to learn about key intervention directions of other projects and to find new ways to collaborate with each other.

A training on “How to keep the sustainability of an Educational Institution to procure resources and provide paid services”.

On September 22-28, 2021, Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO, with the support of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation-cooperating partner to Sida, conducted the training on “How to keep the sustainability of an Educational Institution to procure resources and provide paid services”.

 

The aim of the training course was to provide participants with the essential skills on how to obtain additional funds, to master modern fundraising tools and mechanism, to expand the scope of partners for promoting paid services of the Institution.

 

Within the framework of the above mentioned project SDA partners with the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) and the course was conducted for the staff of the University (administrative staff, lecturers, representatives of scientific centers).

 

At the end of the training course, the participants expressed their satisfaction to their trainer as well as organizers, and the obtained skills were evaluated as very useful, effective and applicable in their daily work.
