Working discussion with the representatives of Sisian, Gorayk, Goris and Tegh enlarged communities

From 1-3 August, working meetings and discussions were held between the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” project manager Vahe Hovhannisyan and representatives of Sisian, Gorayk, Goris and Tegh enlarged communities. The “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” projects is implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and financed by the Austrian Development Agency, the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation.

During the meeting, the project manager presented and discussed the activities planned by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO within the framework of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” project, the format of cooperation with the communities and specific interventions planned in communities.

Community representatives welcomed the initiative of implementing the project in their communities and highlighted the work done by the organization in their communities in the framework of previous projects.

Two-day working discussion

We draw importance to the improvement of the capacities of our partner organizations, which in its turn contributes to the increase of the effectiveness of jointly implemented projects.
A two-day workshop-discussion was organized for the partner Unified Social Service (USS) within the framework of Reconomy’s “Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development” pilot project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO.

First Deputy Minister of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan, Head of the Unified Social Service Eduard Petrosyan, deputy heads, responsible representatives of the Employment and Human Resources Development Department of USS, as well as directors of regional centers of Yerevan and marzes participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, a number of topics were discussed including the issues of employment in regional centers, the main difficulties arising during cooperation with employers and ways to establish effective cooperation.

The discussion was especially significant in the sense that, in addition to the concerns of the employment sector, institutional problems within the spheres of USS activity and potential solutions were discussed.

Experience exchange tour to Georgia

The representatives from the Armenian National Agrarian University, the Armenian Cheesemakers Union, and the Armenian Tourism Federation accompanied by SDA project team, spent the past week in Tbilisi, Georgia, on an exchange tour to identify possible Georgian partners in their respective fields in order to implement joint projects and initiatives in the future.

The exchange visit was carried out as part of the RECONOMY pilot project “Skills and Knowledge Development”.

The Agricultural University of Georgia, “Association Dairy Georgia, Georgian Farmers”Association, Enterprise Georgia, The National Food Agency, State Agricultural Laboratory, Georgian National Tourism Administration, Georgian Tourism Association, Agrohub Milk Processing Factory, member of Georgian Culinary Federation, and HRPA Georgia Career Orientation NGO were among the prestigious institutions visited by the group.

An information campaign has been launched within the framework of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” Project

During July-August, within the framework of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” Project implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and financed by the Austrian Development Agency, the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation, an information campaign will be carried out in Syunik, Shirak and Gegharkunik regions.

The purpose of the campaign is to meet with the project’s target groups, to discuss the expected results and to present all the components of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North 2” Project, the trainings and the project interventions to be conducted during the project implementation period.

The Project’s intended impact is: Inclusive and sustainable agricultural growth of livestock-depending rural communities in Armenia through improved productivity and enhanced competitiveness of the private sector in the domestic and export markets. The Project is based on inclusive market systems development (IMSD) principles focused on developing sustainable service delivery and systematic change with the livestock sector through capacity development of direct beneficiaries.

The Project targets households involved in cattle breeding, actors of milk and meat value chains and Local Self-Governing Bodies of 70 rural settlements of Syunik, Gegharkunik and Shirak regions.

Participation in the Conference on “Economic Development in the Lori Region”

On 20th of July, a conference with participation of local and international organizations, donor institutions working in Lori region in the fields of agriculture, environment, and tourism was held in the city of Vanadzor. The representatives of the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, attending the conference, presented the projects implemented in Lori region and the achieved results.

The conference was organized by the joint initiative of the Lori regional administration and the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), within the framework of the “Local Empowerment of Actors for Development (LEAD) in Lori and Tavush Regions” Project, funded by the European Union. The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform and an opportunity to the attending institutions to present their projects and plans, to learn about other organizations and the projects implemented in the region, in order to avoid the repetition of actions and to find edges of cooperation with each other, moreover in case of possibility also to implement projects with co-financing.

Gor Asryan, Vice Governor of Lori region in his welcoming speech emphasized the importance of all the projects implemented by the attendees from the perspective of the region’s development and expressed hope that the conference may become a platform for cooperation among the attending organizations.
