A training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector of Lori and Tavush regions

From 28-29 of March, within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, a training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector of Lori and Tavush regions on the topic “Waste processing and sorting in the tourism and hospitality sector”.

During the training, the participants discussed how to reduce the amount of waste, the large volume of landfills in Armenia and existing legislative gaps.

Meeting of the National Consultative Group for and Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) Project

On March 23, 2023, the first meeting of the National Consultative Group for and Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) Project took place. “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Representatives of donor organizations, other international agencies, appointed staff from beneficiary local self-governing bodies, public authorities as well as representatives of partner organizations were present.

The meeting was started with an opening remark by Dr. Karen Manvelyan, the Director of WWF-Armenia, followed by welcome speeches by Dr. Werner, Thut-Shimo, Deputy head of mission and deputy head of international cooperation, SDC and Mrs. Zara Chatinyan, KfW local representative in Armenia).

During the meeting Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia (LILA) project and the progress made were presented.

The meeting was concluded by the representative of “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, the project coordinator Alla Ghazaryan from talked about activities implemented within the Economic development component (Outcome 1) of the LILA project.

Training for the tourism and hospitality sector representatives

On March 20, within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, a training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector on the topic “Waste management and recycling in the tourism and hospitality sector”.

During the training, the participants discussed how to reduce the amount of waste, the large volume of landfills in Armenia and existing legislative gaps.

The training was organized within the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” Project, which is implemented by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Caucasus and Armenian offices (lead implementer) and “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO. The Project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Training for the teaching staff of the MAVETA project partnering VET institutions

From 14-17th of March, within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project a training was organized by the Strategic Development Agency NGO for the teachers of Stepanavan State Agricultural College and Berd State Multifunctional College.

The training was conducted by the lecturer of Bern University of Applied Sciences Michaela Krummen, who presented the Swiss experience and the peculiarities of applying the innovative approaches while developing the students’ capacities.

“Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.

Meeting with donor organizations at the RA Ministry of Economy of RA

On March 3rd, 2023 a Donors’ Coordination Meeting was held at the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

The meeting was chaired by the RA Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and attended by the representatives of various international organizations and embassies active in Armenia’s tourism development sector.

During the meeting Alla Ghazaryan, the Project coordinator from “Strategic Development Agency” NGO presented the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project and the activities to be implemented in the target communities.

Within the framework of the meeting the Parties provided updates on the current and foreseen tourism development projects in Armenia, as well as shared information on the progress and achievements of the ongoing ones.

The Parties also discussed the challenges the industry faces today and the possible support and mitigation steps.

The importance of holding similar meetings on regular basis was emphasized, which contributes significantly to the development of partner relations and the effective implementation of programs.
