A drawing contest for children entitled “MY PASTURE” is over, the winners received prizes

From July 8 to August 7, 12 communities of Syunik and Vayots Dzor marzes of RA organized a drawing contest for the children entitled “MY PASTURE”, which was aimed at raising children’s interest in the environment, particularly in pastures protection. An attempt was made to identify the existing issues and possible solutions in this field through the children’s point of view. The drawing contest was held in the framework of the “Advantages of Sustainable Pasture Management” awareness-raising campaign.

Awareness-raising campaign was supported by “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO and financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

195 children at the age of 7-14 from Areni, Gladzor, Yeghegis, Vayk, Zaritap, Jermuk communities of Vayots Dzor and Gorayk, Sisian, Goris, Tat, Kapan communities of Syunik marz took part in the contest and submitted more than 240 drawings which went through a stage of professional selection by the formed beforehand in each community independent jury, consisting of the municipality representatives, representatives of educational institutions and NGOs. More than 100 children received prizes.

From August 24 to 28, the municipalities organized the award ceremony, during which 26 out of participating children (14 girls and 8 boys) received certificates and various prizes – smartwatches, backpacks, educational games, and 82 children received the encouraging awards (drawing supplies). 

The selected pictures will be shown in the municipalities.

The fourth meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was conducted

On 26-27 August, 2020, the fourth meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was conducted by Strategic Development Agency NGO in close cooperation with RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport (MoESCS) within the framework of European Union funded “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project. The meeting was aimed at coordination of projects being implemented, experience exchange and specification of further activities.

The meeting involved representatives from the following organizations/institutions: RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, RA Ministry of Environment, National Center for VET Development, European Training Foundation, GIZ Armenia, Global Developments Fund, German Mecklenburg-Vorpommernia Federal Regional Economics Training Center, British Council Armenia, “People in Need” NGO, World Vision Armenia, “Ferti” NGO.

The training for trainers was organized on “Milk Acceptance and Processing, Lori and Chanakh Cheese Making Technology”

On August 21th, 2020, training for trainers (ToT) was organized at the Ibis Hotel in Yerevan within the framework of the “Promoting Partnerships for Effective Work-based Learning Opportunities in VET” project implementing by the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the financial support of the European Union. The ToT was attended by the project partner host companies’ mentors and VET teachers from State Agricultural Colleges of Stepanavan and Goris, Syunik and Lori marzes of the RA. During the ToT, the participants gained information on the work-based learning tools and methods for conducting/organizing a “Milk Acceptance and Processing, Lori and Chanakh Cheese Making Technology” short-term training course in the classroom and on-job.

Slaughterhouse veterinarians strengthen their knowledge with practical experience

Within the framework of the training of veterinarians-experts of slaughterhouses, on August 11, 2020, the practical work in the laboratory and slaughterhouse started.

123 specialists took part in the online training of veterinarians-experts of slaughterhouses, 76 of which successfully passed the examination on July 25 and completed the theoretical phase.  Now is the time to gain practical knowledge.

The training for slaughterhouse veterinarians was organized by the initiative of the RA Food Safety Inspection Body, with the support of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by  “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, and funded by  “Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’’.

The training was organized through the online system provided by  the National Agrarian University of Armenia.

“Profession’s Day” promotional campaign was organized in Stepanavan and Goris

On July 29-31 and August 5-7, 2020, following all antipandemic preventive rules, “Profession’s Day” promotional campaign was organized in Stepanavan State Agricultural College of Lori marz of the RA and Goris State Agricultural College of Syunik marz of the RA within the framework of the “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project implementing by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the financial support of the European Union.

94 students from 12 schools of Lori and Syunik marzes who participated in the event visited colleges where they received information from skilled professionals on Veterinarian and Milk Technologist professions, attended several experiments in laboratories, visited relevant employers: got familiar with the working processes. All participants were provided with information leaflets on Veterinarian and Milk and Dairy Technology professions.

The purpose of the event was to inform the schoolchildren of the marzes, their parents and teachers, youth about Veterinarian and Milk and Dairy Technology professions, identify opportunities for vocational education and further employment.
