The 8th Workshop of the Coordination Platform for Sustainable Management of RA’s Natural Fodder Areas Took Place

On January 20, the 8th Workshop of the Coordination Platform for Sustainable Management of RA’s Natural Fodder Areas was held in online format. Among the workshop participants were representatives of various ministries related to the sector, local and international public organizations, as well as international and scientific institutions.

At the beginning of the event, Ira Panosyan, the Head of the Department for Development of Agricultural Programs, Resource Utilization, Cooperation Development of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and Ashot Giloyan, the Head of the Department of Local Self-Government Policy of the Ministry of Territorial Development, greeted the participants and wished fruitful work.

Taking into account the existing difficulties, the speakers welcomed the initiative of organizing the workshop online and highlighted the importance of the Platform’s activities aimed at finalizing a Concept paper for the sustainable management of pastures in Armenia.

During the workshop, the current projects of the platform and the work plan for 2021 with activities related to it were presented. The work on the development of a methodological guide for the description of the “Institutional Framework for Sustainable Pasture Management” and the development of a methodological guide for the “implementation of local government responsibilities in the field of sustainable pasture” was presented.

The Coordination Platform for Sustainable Management of RA’s Natural Fodder Areas is a joint initiative of the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO, Environmental programmes implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)and CARMAC II project implemented by the RA Ministry of Economy with the support of the World Bank.

Training on capacity building in remote working

On December 24-26, 2020 the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO organized training on “Capacity development in remote working” for the employees of the head office and regional offices. The training aimed to provide knowledge to increase work efficiency and to develop remote working skills among the employees.

The course covered topics such as the features and benefits of teamwork, effective time management, communication and document flow mechanisms, tools and features of remote work with stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries. During the training, the participants were provided with relevant materials and useful articles.

A professional training course on usage of milk and dairy quality control equipment was organized

On December 23-24 of 2020, the Strategic Development Agency NGO organized a professional training course within the framework of the “Vocational education and training (VET) development in Syunik marz” project for in total of 13 lecturers from Goris State Agricultural College after Professor Kh. Yeritsyan, Sisian branch of Armenian National Agrarian University and Stepanavan State Agricultural College after Professor A. Kalantar.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL) with the support of HEKS/EPER.

The participants joined the training both offline and online taking into account the need to comply with the anti-epidemic safety rules.

The aim of the training was to deepen the knowledge of the lecturers teaching the profession of “Milk and Diary Technology” profession on the topics previously suggested by them contributing to the acquisition of knowledge about new discoveries in the field and laboratory skills.

During the training, references were made to milk and dairy quality control equipment (Klever-2 Centrifuge, pH-meter, and microscope) and accelerated methods for determining the moisture content of milk and dairy products. The course was conducted interactively accompanied by questions and answers, active discussions and demonstration and execution of practical tasks.

During the training, all the rules of anti-epidemic safety caused by COVID-19 were observed.

A training on “Balanced feeding of animals as a basis for animal production and health” was organized

On December 16-17, the Strategic Development Agency NGO in frames of “Livestock development in Armenia: south-north” organized a training course on “Balanced feeding of animals as a basis for animal nutrition and health” in the city of Dilijan. 35 veterinarians from Shirak, Lori, Tavush, and Gegharkunik regions took part in the training.

The course aimed to present to the veterinarians, operating in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, the new modern methods of feed preparation,  quality control by organoleptic testing, and the principles of feeding animals of different species, age, sex, physiological condition, and productivity for regulating the health, resistance, productivity and fertility.

The training covered the following four topics: feed quality and its impact on the animal’s organism, metabolism and nutritional requirements for growing and pregnant animals, as well as nutritional requirements for dairy animals and their metabolism.

The training was followed by an exhibition-sale of veterinary medicines and other supplies, aiming to establish and strengthen the partnership between veterinary medicines suppliers and veterinarians working in the project’s target communities.

During the exhibition-sale, veterinarians were given the opportunity to acquire modern means for the treatment and prevention of animal diseases, as well as to establish contacts with suppliers to get the supply of medicines and other means to their remote settlements at low market prices.

The training course on social media marketing for processors was conducted

Within the framework of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” project on December 11,  a training course on social media marketing was held in the city of Dilijan for 21 processors of Lori, Shirak, Tavush, and Gegharkunik regions of RA.

The main goal of the course was to give the participants basic knowledge and practical skills in social media marketing.

During the training, practical work sessions, and discussions, the participants gained knowledge and skills on how to organize the promotion of their products on social media platforms, taking all the necessary steps and using the appropriate tools.

During the training, the representatives of the project beneficiary processing companies received also an individual consultancy, which will help them to evaluate the needs of their customers in the right way and will lay the foundation for the establishment of the profitable business.
