Training course on “Gender Guidance, Gender Equality, Women’s Economic Empowerment”

On May 4-5, 2020 a two-day training on the topic “Gender Guidance, Gender Equality, Women’s Economic Empowerment” was organized for teachers from the Goris State Agricultural College and ANAU Sisian branch in the scopes of “VET development in Syunik marz” project. The project is being implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO in partnership with HAFL (the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.

The training was conducted on the online platform via Zoom video communication tool due to the situation of quarantine officially announced to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The gender equality training was aimed at making the participants more aware of the relevance of gender in their work and supporting them to identify the necessary tools to be used when mainstreaming gender.

Throughout the first day of the training, participants learnt the topic and adjacent notions, were explained the purpose of gender program orientation, presented the requirements of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) which went along with the training games. The second day of the training was mainly oriented towards the need for self-recognition and self-empowerment of women accompanied by practical exercises as well.

The training was summed up emphasizing the advantages of the empowerment of women and the rise of their role in the society.

Additional support to Food Safety Inspectorate for fighting against the Coronavirus infection

Taking into consideration the risks of new coronavirus COVID 19 spreading in Armenia ”Strategic Development Agency” NGO continues support to its long-term partner:  RA Food Safety Inspectorate in preventing the spread of the infection.

Highlighting the serious role of the Food Safety Inspectorate in the fight against the Coronavirus infection, Strategic Development Agency NGO with the financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in addition to already given on 27th of March 2020 protective accessories, on 14th of April provided additional 100 collections of special clothing.

Personal protective equipment was given to Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia

During recent years, close cooperation has been established between the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia and Strategic Development Agency NGO. Highlighting the serious role of the Food Safety Inspectorate in the fight against the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, the Strategic Development Agency, with funding from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, provided the Inspectorate with protective equipment, including 200 special protective suits, disinfectants, 500 mask respirators, and 500 gloves to support the measures preventing the spread of infection.

Official opening of “Lead Farm” and Communal veterinary service point in Shirak Region

On 17th of February 2020 in Shirak region “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO within the framework of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South – North” project, co-financed by Austrian Development Agency, the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, organized official openings of “Lead Farm” established in Azatan Community and Communal veterinary service point founded in Djradzor rural settlement of Amasia Community. After the official opening ceremony of “Lead Farm” the results/achievements of the “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” Project were presented to the participants (the Project is implemented by SDA NGO in Lori, Shirak, Tavush and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia).

The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Governor of Shirak Tigran Petrosyan, the regional director of Austrian Development Agency the operational unit of Austrian Development Cooperation Mr. Herhard Schaumberger and the regional director of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Ms. Danielle Meuwly, as well as the representatives of local and international organizations, beneficiary processors etc.

The guests highly appreciated the project interventions implemented by SDA NGO in Shirak region, highlighting the role of the project in community development.

At the end of the event Shirak Governor Mr. T. Petrosyan thanked the Chairman of SDA NGO Mr. M. Ayvazyan for implementation of large-scale work on development of livestock farming in Shirak region.

The training course on tax and customs clearance was conducted in Jermuk

By the initiative of Strategic Development Agency NGO a training course on tax and customs clearance was organized on 8th -9th and 14th -15th of February, 2020 in Jermuk, in frames of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” Project funded by Austrian Development Agency, the program unit of Austrian Development and Cooperation, and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation as well as “Livestock Development in South of Armenia” Project, funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The training was provided to the representatives of milk processing companies from Gegharkunik, Shirak, Lori, Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions, aiming to reveal the changes in tax and customs clearance field as well as discussing the issues arising during the tax and customs formalities. The training was conducted by Edgar Vahradyan, the Leading Specialist at #BusinessDevelopmentGroup.
