“FabLab Armenia: Advancing Light Industry through Digital Manufacturing” project was launched

Within “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” RECONOMY project for Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries a Partnership Agreement was signed between the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, the Gyumri Branch of “State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia” Foundation, and the “Fab Lab Armenia” Education Foundation” on July 15, 2024.

The “FabLab Armenia: Advancing Light Industry through Digital Manufacturing” project aims to support educational institutions and market actors in their endeavor to establish a digital laboratory that provides cutting-edge training, research, and intermediary services for students, employees and employers in the light industry sector. This will facilitate the adoption of digital green technologies, contributing to a skilled labor market and decent employment opportunities for women, youth, and disadvantaged and excluded groups.

In particular, this initiative will assist the project partners – the Gyumri Branch of the “State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia” Foundation and the “Fab Lab Armenia” Education Foundation – in establishing facilities and services that ensure target groups have access to modern digital tools, innovative teaching methodologies, and Fab Lab’s global network and learning community.

Additionally, it will allow students, graduates, entrepreneurs and professionals to conduct various research, experiment with new ideas, and, most importantly, realize their creative products from concept to production.

The initiative is made possible by the cooperation of the “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project, implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and the KATAPULT Creative Accelerator Program, implemented by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) with the EU funding.

RECONOMY is an inclusive and green economic development program of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), implemented by Helvetas in partnership with the Strategic Development Agency NGO and others in the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkan countries.
