As part of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, a workshop focused on the preparation of Mazdamer and Camembert cheese took place from October 22 to 24 in Tashir. Representatives of the project’s partner colleges and the private sector participated in the workshop.
The course was led by Swiss cheesemaker and consultant Hans Knussel at the “Village” LLC cheese factory, a new partner of the project.
Participants had the opportunity to prepare Mazdamer and Camembert cheeses under the expert guidance of Knussel, while also learning about the care, salting, and maturation processes for the cheeses they created.
Additionally, a cheesemaker-consultant from Switzerland provided valuable insights to milk processing companies, showcasing techniques for the preparation and preservation of European cheeses.
Hans Knussel also demonstrated practical activities for milk and dairy technologist students from Stepanavan State Agricultural College.
The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.
The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).
