Slaughterhouse veterinarians strengthen their knowledge with practical experience

Within the framework of the training of veterinarians-experts of slaughterhouses, on August 11, 2020, the practical work in the laboratory and slaughterhouse started.

123 specialists took part in the online training of veterinarians-experts of slaughterhouses, 76 of which successfully passed the examination on July 25 and completed the theoretical phase.  Now is the time to gain practical knowledge.

The training for slaughterhouse veterinarians was organized by the initiative of the RA Food Safety Inspection Body, with the support of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by  “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, and funded by  “Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’’.

The training was organized through the online system provided by  the National Agrarian University of Armenia.

“Profession’s Day” promotional campaign was organized in Stepanavan and Goris

On July 29-31 and August 5-7, 2020, following all antipandemic preventive rules, “Profession’s Day” promotional campaign was organized in Stepanavan State Agricultural College of Lori marz of the RA and Goris State Agricultural College of Syunik marz of the RA within the framework of the “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project implementing by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the financial support of the European Union.

94 students from 12 schools of Lori and Syunik marzes who participated in the event visited colleges where they received information from skilled professionals on Veterinarian and Milk Technologist professions, attended several experiments in laboratories, visited relevant employers: got familiar with the working processes. All participants were provided with information leaflets on Veterinarian and Milk and Dairy Technology professions.

The purpose of the event was to inform the schoolchildren of the marzes, their parents and teachers, youth about Veterinarian and Milk and Dairy Technology professions, identify opportunities for vocational education and further employment.

Protective equipment for “Agricultural Services Center” SNCO to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection

In order to promote the prevention of the new coronavirus spread, Strategic Development Agency NGO provided “Agricultural Services Center” SNCO  with personal protective equipment, including 27,750 medical masks, 55,500 pairs of gloves and printed materials, until end of August of this year, 555 sets of special outfits: clothes and shoes will be provided too.

The assistance was provided in frames of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, and financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The purpose of the assistance is to support the “Agricultural Services Center” SNCO in the following areas: uninterrupted, safe implementation of diagnostic measures against infectious diseases for animals and humans, implemented in the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of the state order program.

– Awareness-raising among veterinarians-epidemiologists on the rules of occupational safety in the epidemic conditions and on the usage of the personal protective equipment;

– Ensuring the safety of the staff by providing personal protective equipment;

– Raising awareness among livestock farmers about the specifics of preventive-diagnostic measures implementation in the epidemic conditions and about the safety rules.

 Within the framework of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project, a number of additional measures will be implemented by the end of August, aiming to support the participants of the milk and meat value chains to ensure safe and uninterrupted work in the epidemic conditions.

 

A cooperation between partner / host companies and Goris State Agricultural College of Syunik Marz of the Republic of Armenia has been established

A cooperation between partner / host companies and Goris State Agricultural College of Syunik Marz of the Republic of Armenia has been established within the framework of “Promoting partnerships for effective work-based learning opportunities in VET” project being implemented by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the financial support of the European Union.

The parties have signed agreements committing to provide quality education to the students of “Milk and Dairy Technology” and “Veterinary” professions based on the newly introduced work-based learning model (WBL). From now on, the students will take practical lessons at employers’ companies gaining practical skills and competences.

This cooperation between the college and employers will contribute to the development of the education sector in Syunik marz and the replenishment of the labor market with qualified specialists.

 

Protective equipment to support measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection

In order to promote the prevention of the new coronavirus spread, the private veterinarians, dairy cooperatives and companies serving 100 rural settlements in Vayots Dzor and Syunik region were provided with personal protective equipment – 7,500 medical masks, 15,000 pairs of gloves and disinfectants. The assistance was provided within the framework of the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

With the support of the project, 70 veterinarians and 50 milk suppliers will be provided with 180 sets of special equipment, 90 hand sanitizers and other accessories, as well as professional support for the continuous operation of veterinary, milk collection point and other related services.

Within the framework of the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project, a number of additional measures will be implemented by the end of August, which aims to support the participants of the milk and meat value chains to ensure safe and uninterrupted implementation of the work in epidemic conditions.

The Livestock Development in the South of Armenia project is implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO, which implements economic, educational and sectoral development projects in 200 settlements in remote regions of Armenia, with financial support from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and other international donors.
