A training course for veterinarians from Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions was organized

On February 13-15th of 2021, in frames of “Livestock Development in Armenia: South-North” and “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” Projects implemented by Strategic Development Agency NGO a training course was organized for veterinarians from Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions. The training course included the following topics: “One Health” approach, the main methodological considerations of human and animal disease control, zoonosis diseases, public health significance of zoonosis diseases, control and prevention measures, COVID-19 pandemic, the legal framework regulating the epidemiological control of zoonotic diseases in RA. During the training course,  participants were presented the consequences of zoonosis diseases and the importance of the “One Health” approach.

The second – follow-up training on the “Reinforcement of action- and competence-oriented teaching” was organized

In the framework of “Vocational Education and Training (VET) development in Syunik marz” project the second – follow-up training on the “Reinforcement of action- and competence-oriented teaching” took place from 9-11 February, 2021.

The mentioned project is being implemented by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO in partnership with HAFL (The School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER).

The training involved 14 teachers from Goris State Agricultural College after Professor Kh. Yeritsyan and Sisian Branch of the Armenian National Agrarian University.

The main objectives of the training were to support teachers to use different teaching methods in their teaching process, to develop new ideas to organize teaching more effectively developing the students’ necessary skills, to develop clearly structured, pictorial PowerPoint presentations defining appropriate tasks for the students, to apply the sequential steps of “Problem-Based Learning” during the teaching, and to make the student assessment process more effective.

At the end of the training, the participants were awarded a certificate of participation.

 

The kick-off workshop of the “Mapping of pastures and hay meadows in Armenia” project took place

On February 10, the kick-off workshop of the “Mapping of pastures and hay meadows in Armenia” project was held in the online format. Among the workshop participants were representatives of various ministries related to the sector, local and international public organizations, as well as international and scientific institutions.

The project is implemented within the scope of the “Management of natural resources and safeguarding of ecosystem services for sustainable rural development in the South Caucasus (ECOserve)” Programme implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). Project activities are being implemented by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and International Center for Agribusiness Research and Education Foundation (ICARE). The Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO is responsible for the pilot implementation. All activities are being implemented in close collaboration with the Ministries of Economy and Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia.
At the beginning of the event, Ira Panosyan, the Head of the Department for Development of Agricultural Programs, Resource Utilization, Cooperation Development of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and Ashot Giloyan, the Head of the Department of Local Self-Government Policy of the Ministry of Territorial Development, Tobias Wittmann, Team Leader of GIZ EcoServe project and Arthur Grigoryan, Director of ICARE Foundation greeted the participants and wished fruitful work.
The discussion was joined by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Vache Terteryan, who supported the presented initiatives and expressed readiness to support the presented programs.

The speakers pointed out the importance of the “Mapping of pastures and hay meadows in Armenia” project and expressed hope that the project would contribute to better and more sustainable pasture management.

During the workshop “Mapping of pastures and hay meadows in Armenia” initiative, “Mapping of extent, condition and biomass of pastures and hay meadows in Armenia” project, general overview of the institute and presentation of GrassAM preliminary results, presentation of the activities and expected results of piloting pasture and hay meadow maps in Lori and Shirak marzes of RA were presented.

The short-term training course on “Milk Acceptance and Processing, Lori and Chanakh Cheese Making Technology” was conducted

From December 1st, 2020, to January 27th, 2021, the short-term training course on “Milk Acceptance and Processing, Lori and Chanakh Cheese Making Technology” was organized by Stepanavan and Goris State Agricultural Colleges in Lori and Syunik marzes of the Republic of Armenia. The short-term course with the inclusion of elements of the Work-Based Learning (WBL) educational model was specially designed within the framework of “Promoting Partnership for Effective Work-Based Learning Opportunities in VET” project implementing by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO with the financial support of the European Union.

The aim of the training course was to develop and strenghten the necessary professional skills and knowledge in milk and dairy processing, as well as cheese-making. At the end of the course, the participants passed the relevant examination, after which the successful learners were given certificates.

“Reinforcement of action- and competence-oriented teaching” training was organized

In the framework of “Vocational Education and Training (VET) development in Syunik marz” project, the “Reinforcement of action- and competence-oriented teaching” training took place from 19-20 January, 2021.

The mentioned project is being implemented by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO in partnership with HAFL (The School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER).

The training involved 14 teachers from Goris State Agricultural College after Professor Kh. Yeritsyan and Sisian Branch of the Armenian National Agrarian University. The main objectives of the training were to help the teachers in formulating appropriate learning objectives for lessons to be organized within the next month and elaborating assignments that support the learners to reach the learning objectives, to support in providing different approaches to the learning content using a wide repertoire of activities and methods in the lesson plan, to promote the interconnectedness of learning at school into practice of a company with different activities and methods included in the lesson plan and to assist the teachers in creating assignments which have a connection to challenges or problems in practice or in a company.
