Training courses on “Facilitation” and “Business Communication Ethics”

From 22nd -24th and 25th -26th of March, 2021 Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO within the framework of “VET Development in Syunik Marz” project organized two training courses on “Facilitation” and “Business Communication Ethics” with the engagement of the students and teachers from Goris State Agricultural College after Professor Kh. Yeritsyan and Sisian Branch of the Armenian National Agrarian University.

The mentioned project is being implemented by SDA NGO in partnership with HAFL (The School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER).

The training course on “Facilitation”, which was aimed at developing the participants’ facilitation skills and knowledge on the concept of “facilitation”, the role of the facilitator, tools and approaches to manage facilitation process, was attended by 13 lecturers.

The training course on “Business Communication Ethics”, aiming to improve business communication skills of the students and teachers through effective business conversation and writing was attended by 15 students and lecturers from the above-mentioned institutions.

Meeting with the heads of communities and leading specialists from Gyulagarak and Lori Berd communities of RA Lori Region

On March 25-26, 2021 a community meeting was held with the heads of communities and leading specialists of Gyulagarak and Lori Berd communities of Lori marz of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of ‘’Introducing pasture and grassland maps for sustainable pasture and grasslands management practices in Lori and Shirak marzes of Armenia’’ pilot project. The purpose of the meeting was to find out the expectations and the requirements of the target and non-target communities regarding the layout and the content of the digital maps.

The project is financed by the GIZ ECOSERVE Project, with co-financing from the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project implemented by “Strategic Development Agency ” NGO with financial support of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

The aim of the pilot project is to develop an institutional framework for the use of digital maps based on the needs and requirements of communities. Which will become the basis for the usage of the maps, available to the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure in all communities of the Republic of Armenia. The kick-off meeting of the pilot project took place on February 11, 2021, during which the assessment was carried out to identify the technical capabilities of the community and the capacities of Gyulagarak community’s specialists to use the digital maps.

An awareness campaign was organized on the eve of Consumer Protection Day

As in the previous four years, this year the RA Food Safety Inspectorate, with the active support and funding of the Strategic Development Agency NGO, held several awareness-raising events during the week preceding March 15. The cooperation with the Strategic Development Agency NGO is implemented within the framework of the “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” program implemented with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

As a part of the awareness-raising activities, students at one of the schools in Yerevan and the National Agrarian University of Armenia were introduced to the rights and responsibilities of consumers, talked about how important it is to be educated in terms of protecting their rights, being heard or not being misled.

The issue of ensuring food security for the consumption of the population is considered to be one of the most important components of food security in our country. The informed consumer, who chooses food competently, taking into account its safety and quality, makes the greatest contribution to the establishment of the food safety system.

The regular meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was organized

On March 11-12, 2021 the regular meeting of the Stakeholder Dialogue Platform was organized within the framework of “Promoting Partnerships for Effective Work-Based Learning Opportunities in VET” project implementing by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO with the financial support of the European Union. The purpose of the event was to discuss the main issues in VET sector and results of the WBL piloting, as well as give the participants an opportunity to find new ways of cooperation.

Mrs. Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Victoria Poghosyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mr. David Avakian, the Project Manager of Cooperation Section of the European Union Delegation to Armenia and Ms. Lilit Hovhannisyan, the Project Manager, “Strategic Development Agency” NGO, delivered a welcoming speech at the event. The speakers highlighted the importance of the Work-based learning model in the VET sector of Armenia, particularly in the critical situation due to the pandemic crisis. The speakers noted the need to enhance the implementation process of this educational model in the context of the perspective development of new professions and educational modules.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the RA, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the RA, the European Union Delegation to Armenia, the Professional Orientation and Skills Development Center under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the RA, the European Training Foundation, GIZ, the State Employment Agency, Goris and Stepanavan State Agricultural Colleges and employers (project partners), as well as a number of other colleges and organizations.

During the two-day event, active discussions took place between the participants on the existing obstacles related to the introduction of the WBL educational model, the mechanisms for improvement and efficiency increase.

Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development Pilot Project Officially Kicked Off

A meeting-discussion on March 5-6, 2021 marked the official start of the Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development Pilot Project. The project is implemented by Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO with the support of HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation-cooperating partner to SIDA.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of project partners identified in the needs assessment stage: the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, State Tourism Committee of the RA Ministry of Economy, State Employment Agency of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Issues, Armenian National Agrarian University, Armenian Association of Professional Tourist Guides and Armenian Hikers Association.

The primary objective of the Skills, Knowledge and Intermediation Development Project is to create viable (self)-employment opportunities for women and youth particularly in tourism/hospitality and agriculture/agribusiness by strengthening the capacities of institutions that provide skills and knowledge, as well as offering the beneficiaries non-formal education opportunities aligning with the needs of the contemporary labor market.

The goals and objectives of the project were introduced during the meeting, as well as challenges and possible solutions were discussed in the context of COVID_19 and the postwar situation in Armenia. The importance of empowerment 2020 Nagorno Karabakh war-affected population and /their integration to the labour market was highlighted during the discussion.

The project kickoff was marked by the MOU signing ceremony between the partners. The parties committed to cooperate to the benefit of a smooth implementation and successful outcomes of the project.
