Practical training on fodder production and pasture management organized for the partners of the related sector from Syunik region

From 19-21 April 2023, within the framework of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, practical training on fodder production and pasture management was organized by Strategic Development Agency NGO for the partners of the related sector from Syunik region.

The workshop was conducted by foreign expert Stefan Dubach.

Practical training on fodder production and pasture management for the partners in Lori

From 18-19 April 2023, within the framework of “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, practical training on fodder production and pasture management for the partners in Lori was organized by the Strategic Development Agency NGO for the teachers of Stepanavan State Agricultural College. The workshop was conducted by foreign expert Stefan Dubach.

As a result of the training, the participants were able to:

  • recognize the key factors for cheese production from unpasteurized milk and its implication for
  • pasture and meadows
  • identify the needs and challenges of Armenian pastures and meadow
  • plan a graded management of pastures and meadows
  • recognize the connection between the intensity of use and fertilization of a meadow
  • identify the relationship between feeding and breeding

The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.

The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).

A training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector of Lori and Tavush regions

From 28-29 of March, within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, a training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector of Lori and Tavush regions on the topic “Waste processing and sorting in the tourism and hospitality sector”.

During the training, the participants discussed how to reduce the amount of waste, the large volume of landfills in Armenia and existing legislative gaps.

On March 20, within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project, a training was organized for representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector on the topic “Waste management and recycling in the tourism and hospitality sector”.

During the training, the participants discussed how to reduce the amount of waste, the large volume of landfills in Armenia and existing legislative gaps.

The training was organized within the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” Project, which is implemented by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Caucasus and Armenian offices (lead implementer) and “Strategic Development Agency” (SDA) NGO. The Project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Training for the teaching staff of the MAVETA project partnering VET institutions

From 14-17th of March, within the framework of the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project a training was organized by the Strategic Development Agency NGO for the teachers of Stepanavan State Agricultural College and Berd State Multifunctional College.

The training was conducted by the lecturer of Bern University of Applied Sciences Michaela Krummen, who presented the Swiss experience and the peculiarities of applying the innovative approaches while developing the students’ capacities.
