RECONOMY x LILA Study Tour for Moldovan Tour-Operators

Within the framework of the cooperation between RECONOMY’s “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” and “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) projects, a group of Moldovan tour-operators is on a study visit to Armenia from April 25 to May 2.

A meeting with Armenian tour operators was held on April 25, in Yerevan, during which Mher Sahakyan, RECONOMY’s “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project manager, and Alla Ghazaryan, the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project coordinator, presented the projects, its interventions aimed at tourism development, and the tourism results created.

LILA project partners Nueva Vista and AM Travel tour-operators presented their inbound tourism offers and their willingness to cooperate with Moldovan partners.

Afterwards, the participants discussed the prospects for creating joint regional tourism packages.

The study tour will continue to tourist destinations in Armenia, during which Moldovan tour-operators will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the tourism results created by the businesses benefiting from the LILA project in the regions.

RECONOMY x LILA Working Meeting Between Tour-Guides and Tour Operators

Within the framework of RECONOMY’s “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” and “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) projects, a working meeting of tour-guides and tour-operators was held in Yerevan on April 23 on the topic of developing experience-based tourism.

The event participants were welcomed and presented on the projects interventions by Mher Sahakyan, RECONOMY’s “Digitizing Sectors for Competitiveness” project manager, and Alla Ghazaryan, the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project coordinator.

Gevorg Babayan, founder of the Like Local digital platform, provided general information about platform’s activities, international experience exchange, and also presented the importance of developing and providing experience-based tourism services.

Exceptional attention was paid to including families living a unique lifestyle in Armenian communities, who will be able to host tourists, presenting the tourism features typical of their regions.

SEIRA x MAVETA Beekeeping training for for displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and local vulnerable groups

Within the framework of “Socio-Economic Integration of Refugees in Armenia” (SEIRA) project and the “Modernizing Vocational Education and Training in Agriculture in Armenia” (MAVETA) project, beekeeping training courses were held in Syunik and Gegharkunik regions in April for displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh and local vulnerable groups.

The training was conducted by Tigran Sedrakyan, a representative of the “Beekeeping Forge Scientific and Educational Center”.

The courses on the topics of “Beekeeping, honey apiary organization” and “Basics of beekeeping, honey product production, marketing” provided participants with the opportunity to learn the basics of the profession through practical and theoretical methodology.

During the practical part of the course, visiting a honey production facility in the Shinuhayr settlement of the Goris community, the trainer presented the steps that contribute to increasing the productivity of honey products through the effective use of existing equipment and techniques.

About 40 people participated in the training in both regions.

At the end of the training, participants were awarded certificates.

The “Socio-Economic Integration of Refugees in Armenia” (SEIRA) project fosters socio-economic integration by improving food security, creating sustainable livelihoods, and empowering both refugees and host communities in Armenia, promoting resilience and economic growth through agricultural and business development.

The SEIRA project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and implemented by the “Strategic Development Agency” NGO and the UN World Food Programme

The MAVETA project is funded by a broad coalition of international and local organizations led by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), including the Austrian Development Agency, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Government of Armenia, the Swiss Church Aid (HEKS/EPER) NGO, Izmirlian Foundation, the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO and Vanand Agro CJSC.

The project’s implementing partners are the GIZ and HEKS/EPER with the involvement of SDA and the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (HAFL).

LILA Project Presented to International Tour Operators

Alla Ghazaryan, Project Coordinator of “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA), presented the project to a group of international tour operators օn April 17 in Yerevan. During the event, she highlighted the key tourism outcomes achieved through the project and discussed the unique features of nature-based tourism in Armenia. The meeting was organized at the initiative of AM Travel, a project partner and local tour operator.

LILA Culinary Training for Forcibly Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh

Within the framework of the “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project, a theoretical and practical training titled “Sedrak Mamoulyan’s Culinary Knowledge” was held in the Areni community of Vayots Dzor region from April 15-18, intended for forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.

During the four-day training, Sedrak Mamulyan, President of the “Development and Preservation of Armenian Culinary Traditions” NGO, presented the origins and cultural characteristics of the national cuisine, culinary basics, as well as the identification and use of spices used in the preparation of national dishes to the participants, emphasizing the importance of the food safety practices.

Following the theoretical sessions, participants engaged in hands-on cooking exercises, under the guidance of Sedrak Mamulyan and his assistant Anyuta Matevosyan, they prepared a variety of traditional dishes.

At the conclusion of the training, all participants received certificates of completion.
