Skills development training will be conducted for inspectors of the Food Safety Inspectorate of RA.

By the initiative of the RA Food Safety Inspectorate and Strategic Development Agency NGO, in frames of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, a training course will be conducted for regional inspectors of RA Food Safety Inspectorate Body.

The project aims to improve the knowledge of regional inspectors on veterinary, food safety, phytosanitary, legal, and border control regulations, which will increase the quality of their work.At the end of the training, a test will be carried out, which will allow to assess the professional knowledge of the inspectors, and based on its results it will be possible to plan further steps for their capacity development.The pieces of training are scheduled for May-June of 2020. 

Training course for slaughterhouse veterinary-experts

From the 1st of July of 2020, the transition to the mandatory slaughterhouse is planned to be held in the Republic of Armenia.In this regard, by the initiative of the RA Food Safety Inspectorate and Strategic Development Agency NGO,

in frames of “Livestock Development in the South of Armenia” project financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, a training course for slaughterhouse veterinary experts will be organized. The training course will be organized via an online system provided by the National Agrarian University of Armenia.The training aims to provide slaughterhouses with trained specialists, who will start to work in the slaughterhouses from the 1st of July.The proposed course will include the provision of information required for the activities to be undertaken by the slaughterhouse veterinarian-expert, both in terms of pre-disinfection, as well as post-disinfection processes.Participants who have successfully completed the course will be awarded a veterinary expert certificate.Anyone, wishing to obtain a certificate of a slaughterhouse veterinarian-expert, can get acquainted with the terms of participation and the registration procedure by visiting the following link:  https://anau.am/training-veterinarian-expert/.

Training course on “Gender Guidance, Gender Equality, Women’s Economic Empowerment”

On May 4-5, 2020 a two-day training on the topic “Gender Guidance, Gender Equality, Women’s Economic Empowerment” was organized for teachers from the Goris State Agricultural College and ANAU Sisian branch in the scopes of “VET development in Syunik marz” project. The project is being implemented by “Strategic Development Agency” NGO in partnership with HAFL (the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences of the Bern University of Applied Sciences) and with the support of Swiss organization HEKS/EPER.

The training was conducted on the online platform via Zoom video communication tool due to the situation of quarantine officially announced to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

The gender equality training was aimed at making the participants more aware of the relevance of gender in their work and supporting them to identify the necessary tools to be used when mainstreaming gender.

Throughout the first day of the training, participants learnt the topic and adjacent notions, were explained the purpose of gender program orientation, presented the requirements of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) which went along with the training games. The second day of the training was mainly oriented towards the need for self-recognition and self-empowerment of women accompanied by practical exercises as well.

The training was summed up emphasizing the advantages of the empowerment of women and the rise of their role in the society.

Additional support to Food Safety Inspectorate for fighting against the Coronavirus infection

Taking into consideration the risks of new coronavirus COVID 19 spreading in Armenia ”Strategic Development Agency” NGO continues support to its long-term partner:  RA Food Safety Inspectorate in preventing the spread of the infection.

Highlighting the serious role of the Food Safety Inspectorate in the fight against the Coronavirus infection, Strategic Development Agency NGO with the financial support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in addition to already given on 27th of March 2020 protective accessories, on 14th of April provided additional 100 collections of special clothing.

Personal protective equipment was given to Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia

During recent years, close cooperation has been established between the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia and Strategic Development Agency NGO. Highlighting the serious role of the Food Safety Inspectorate in the fight against the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, the Strategic Development Agency, with funding from Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, provided the Inspectorate with protective equipment, including 200 special protective suits, disinfectants, 500 mask respirators, and 500 gloves to support the measures preventing the spread of infection.
