Study for the definition of value chains for the development of family farming in Syunik

To improve food security and living standards and to ensure that families in rural communities remain firmly rooted in their communities, by developing and diversifying their production, and by supporting their conversion to sustainable agricultural practices.

Study is to be conducted in 4 target villages (Kornidzor, Vaghatur, Nerkin Khndzoresk, Khot) of Syunik marz.

The areas of the study are:

  • To study the available production resources and capacities in the target settlements, productions and their efficiency, the possibilities of expanding the volume of products, the competitiveness of products in the domestic market, the possibilities of improving the competitiveness of producers and management products;
  • Analyze the potential of the selected value chains product in marketing and opportunities for realization (including wholesale and retail chains in Syunik marz and outside Syunik marz, processors, other institutional buyers in Syunik marz, import substitution opportunities).

“Support with Business Coaching – Business Model and Strategy Development to the project target groups”

Client/Ordered by: The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in the framework of “Local Empowerment of Actors for Development in Shirak province of Armenia (LEAD4Shirak)” project

The objective of this assignment is to provide business coaching services to the shortlisted applicants of the call for grant applications (announced within LEAD4Shirak Project for three Local Action Group (LAG) areas for Community development and Business development initiatives) supporting them in preparation and delivery of full applications with solid and accurate business plans in the scope of their business development initiatives by business coaching and training. More than 60 applicants developed comprehensive full applications along with business plans (including marketing, management, operational and financial plans, as well as aspects of environmental preservation, gender equality and social inclusion) for their specific business idea.

“Conduction of gross margin survey in the republic of Armenia”

Client/Ordered by: “EU Green Agriculture Initiative in Armenia (EU GAIA)” Project

 The Project intended to test a methodology to obtain such information through the pilot gross margin surveys for the crops and animal products of importance to Armenia. The survey methodology, results, and conclusions were transferred to the key stakeholder, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

The range of services provided by 3R Strategy within this assignment includes edition of the proposed methodology, sampling and field work: around 100 field interviews for each of the crops and products were conducted totaling 1,009 interviews for the entire survey process (around 100 surveys per region).

«Economic empowerment of women in Gegharkunik and Shirak marzes» project

«Economic empowerment of women in Gegharkunik and Shirak marzes» the project was implemented by UNDP Armenia in partnership with “Green Lane” NGO and “3R Strategy” LLC (2019-2021). “3R Strategy” LLC was responsible for implementation of business consulting and training throughout the project. The objective of the project was to empower rural women, especially from socially disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, by encouraging among them cooperation and social mobilization, the use of skills, economic opportunities and relevant information to become self-employed/employed and to be involved in community decision-making. The economic orientation of the project required the provision of multi-level business consulting, which was carried out both through courses as well as individual and group consultations, having a regular nature.

In the framework of the project, the following were organized:

·         Life skills development courses covering resume writing, effective communication, conflict management, computer literacy and other topics. More than 150 women participated in these courses. The training contributed to the development of women’s ability to respond more flexibly and quickly to job announcements, to find new jobs and/or better-quality work.

·         Business skills development courses covering business management, production planning, marketing, branding, social media marketing, financial analysis and other topics. More than 140 women participated in the business planning courses, most of whom reported an increase in income by the end of the project. The women beneficiaries of the project were provided with business advice throughout the project on positioning in consumer markets, creating a value proposition, branding and packaging, pricing policy, financial analysis and other topics.
